Restore healthcare facilities and rebuild family homes following the 2021 earthquake.

What

After the earthquake, CMMB Haiti responded within hours with medicines and medical supplies—then stayed to rebuild and recover.
Despite political turmoil and gang violence that complicated supply transport, the projects are almost complete.

We repaired or resupplied the damaged convents and healthcare facilities of three orders of women religious: the Little Sisters of Saint-Thérèse (who operate clinics in Vieux-Bourg d’Aquin in Sud and Baradères in Nippes); the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Chantal (Sud); and the Daughters of Charity in Saint-Louis-du-Sud in nearby Cavaillon (where we built a lab and resupplied the clinic). In addition, the ministry of health has approved plans to build a new health facility at Maniche to replace a smaller one destroyed in the earthquake; the community itself donated the land.

Beyond health facilities, we built 15 family homes—constructed to withstand future earthquakes and outfitted with indoor plumbing and locking front doors (a first for most of the recipients). To improve access to safe drinking water, we distributed 250 water filters to households and health facilities.
