Supporting Women and Their Families

By equipping women with resources to become self-sufficient, CMMB Haiti helps strengthen families and communities.

As women in Haiti strive to raise healthy, educated children, they face significant challenges. Haiti is one of the world’s most resource-constrained nations, marked by recurring natural disasters, political instability, and gang violence. With limited educational opportunities, many women struggle to find work and fund their children’s schooling.

CMMB Haiti responds by providing practical tools and resources that support economic self-sufficiency. Women gain business and entrepreneurship skills and are encouraged to join a community-based microfinance group, a mutuelle de solidarité (MuSo). To reduce food insecurity, we distribute seeds and seedlings and provide training on planting and maintaining gardens; some families are provided goats to raise. Once their herd grows, they commit to passing on some of the goats to another family.

For the most vulnerable families, CMMB Haiti also provides direct support so that children can access medical care, attend school, and eat nutritious food.

Combined, these efforts not only improve the well-being of families but also help make communities stronger and more resilient.
