Empowering Women and Their Families

By giving women the resources they need to become self-sufficient, CMMB Haiti strengthens families and their communities.

As women in Haiti try to raise healthy, educated children, they face significant challenges. Not only is it one of the most resource-scarce countries in the world, Haiti is also beset by natural disaster, political instability, and horrific gang violence. With often limited education, women struggle to find work and fund their children’s schooling.

That is why CMMB Haiti’s support is so critical. We give women the tools and resources they need to be economically self-sufficient, empowering them to build brighter futures for their families. CMMB Haiti teaches women basic business and entrepreneurship skills and encourages them to join village saving and lending associations—increasing the share of household income controlled by women. To reduce food insecurity, we provide livestock like goats and give advice on planting and maintaining gardens—giving women more control over their families’ futures.

For the most vulnerable families, we provide funds so that their children can receive medical care, attend school, and eat nutritious food.
